What is Hormone Yoga Therapy?

We have all heard about yoga. Most of us think of it as stretching and gentle strengthening, sometimes accompanied by meditation or relaxation methods. But do you know what hormone yoga is? It is quite far from the traditional idea. It is ideal for women who suffer from unpleasant menopause, suffer from hormonal imbalances or try to become pregnant. Do you know, how this exercise can help? It is not neccessary for you to practise yoga before, it is also suitable for beginners. Hormone Yoga Therapy (HYT) for women is a natural and holistic method created by a Brazilian psychologist and Yoga therapist, Dinah Rodrigues. And it’s definitely not just some exercise! HYT is a dynamic form of Yoga therapy, which objective is to reactivate in a natural way the hormone production of the endocrine glands of women: ovaries, thyroid, pituitary gland and adrenals. HYT is a natural treatment consisting in a series of exercises, combining postures, movements and breathing techniques, and it is designed to reactivate hormone production. It’s a holistic treatment that brings vitality and health by eliminating symptoms of low hormones. The series is dynamic and it leads to quick results with a regular practice.

Why Hormone Yoga Therapy works?

Dinah Rodrigues has worked on the lineup for over 20 years, inviting a number of yoga teachers, doctors, masters and physiotherapists to do so. And the whole method was also subjected to extensive scientific research. With the dymanic breath, set of execrises and Tibetan energy technique it directly works with endocrine glands that are responsible for our hormonal system. Hundreds of women participated in these measurements and the results were truly amazing. All participants were corrected for hormonal imbalance after three months and their health improved. The lineup was originally designed primarily for menopause, for older women to eliminate the symptoms of low hormone level. Because, as we know, with age, especially after age of 35, the hormones are decreasing, such as estrogen and progesterone. But over time, HYT also benefits individuals experiencing hormonal imbalance symptoms such as: emotional instability, insomnia, fatigue, depression, migraine, infertility, hair loss, hot flashes, night sweats, polycystic ovaries, PMS, thyroid problems, and amongst many others.

It is ideal to first take an accredited course, where you will learn all the movements correctly and then you can continue at home. And it will take only 30 minutes for your daily practice. It is recommended to practice every day, but the minimum is 3-4 times per week.  Somebody feels progress immediately after attending the seminar, some women report visible successes after a week, some respond after a month, and of course it may take longer. It all depends on every woman, as we are all different.  Generally, after three months, the results are quite obvious. And it is a very topical issue for many women now, as these problems are increasing. It also, helps younger women who have problems getting pregnant, if their problems are caused by hormonal imbalance, poor blood flow or muscle cramps in the pelvic area. It cannot logically solve other problems, but it supports overall relaxation of the organism, which can be crucial in trying to conceive.

Beware of possible contraindications.

Precisely because therapy actually works, care should be taken to avoid therapy when it is not recommended. This group includes pregnancy because this technique includes a dynamic breath that could cause the fetus to be expelled. Furthermore, it is not suitable for women who have breast cancer and are taking hormonal therapy. It is also not suitable for endometriosis, straight after hysterectomy and in the case of large fibroids. Also, this method is not appropriate if you are taking medicines to reduce hormone levels. This therapy works the other way around and could disrupt your treatment. You should also stop exercising immediately if you experience unusual abdominal pain. If you have any concerns,  is always good to contact a certified HYT instructor and disscuss your situation with her.
